#Radcliffe - Rules

  1. Mass inviting, spamming, advertising another channel or server, asking people to join another channel or server, or spamming (flooding with) the address of a web site (particularly those containing pornographic or otherwise offensive material), FTP site, or mIRC File Server containing pornography, pornography banners, sex sites of any nature, "make money" junk, or warez. Even a single advert for such sites could, depending on severity, lead to an IMMEDIATE ban.
  2. No flooding or spamming the channel or any user in the channel with CTCPs, messages, actions, text, or DCC CHAT/SEND requests (although of course files specifically requested by legitimate users can be sent only to those who have expressed the wish to receive it). Sound requests are alloweded provided you don't over do them. Remember if you don't want to hear them just type /sound off
  3. Ping flooding, "nuking", ICMP/UDP flooding, smurfing, using NetBus/BackOrifice/DMSETUP against, or otherwise denying service to ANY USER or OP will result in an IMMEDIATE ban.
  4. Repeating the same message in the channel more than 5 times in 1 minute, including text floods, personal "self ads", messages to other users, or similar will be punished by a Warning Kick. Keep it up and you will get banned, so don't complain!
  5. TALKING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS (all caps) is considered SHOUTING and is rude and insensitive. So Please back off the mike! Excessive use of ALL CAPS will result in a Warning Kick and if you keep doing it we will ban you so fast you'll forget you were ever in the channel. More importantly so will we.
  6. Asking for OP or Voice Status (+v) is not allowed. If we want you to have ops or voice we will provide this at our discretion. Ops and voice status in this channel tends to reprsent the regulars of the channel. Just take a look at the stats for some idea of who givens ops/voices. The serverwe use has a chanserv, so all ops/voices will be done automatically most of the time. We also give user status to people who regularly use the channel (if they are registered with the nickserv.) This is mainly so we cna memo the whole channel of any changes.
  7. Running invite, message, or notice scripts that message a user as they join or part the channel is strictly forbidden and will result in a Ban. This of course does not include the channel joining script.
  8. Extremely explicit sexual or racial references (cunt, clit, nigger, spic, gook) are prohibited in nicknames and also are not to be used excessively in the channel.
  9. Advertising for phone sex, anal sex, or talking about rape in a manner offensive to the victim is not allowed.
  10. Using Comic mode on MS Chat will result in a kick. 3 strikes and you're out. This is because it makes it harder for users of the channel to read what your saying
  11. Legitimate reports of abuse in the form of DCC sends or spamming in chat messages from other channel users may be sent to any op in a chat message and genuine reports could result in the offending user being booted or banned. However, abuse of this system by pestering ops for a particular user to been booted without good cause could result in you yourself receiving a warning or kick.
  12. Generally misusing the channel by acting in any way other than in the spirit of the conversation and using the channel as it is intended, is not allowed and offenders will be warned accordingly.

BIGGEST RULE: Being an op or having +v status does not grant you the freedom to abuse the rules the users must follow. Those granted op status on a temporary basis (i.e. when there are not already one of the 5 regular ops in the channel) must abide by and enforce the rules fairly. Being an op is a position of trust and abuse will mean you may not be given the privilege again.

Note that the rules will be enforced by the ops in a way they see fit. The definition of abuse is as the ops decide, and definition of; for example, misuse of the channel, will be interpreted by ops and warnings, kicks or bans distributed as they see fit. If you wish to report permanent or temporary ops who you feel have not acted fairly or in the spirit of the rules, you can contact Pobice at radcliffe@pobice.co.uk. Remember the rules are here to make the channel run smoothly and prevent genuine users from being subjected to abuse of any kind, they are not intended as a restriction to free speech. (PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS TOMMYBOYDERS!)
